Blood sampling in the small neck vein
Blood sampling in the small neck vein: maintain the bird in a three-quarters position between the tip of the index and middle fingers. Blow at the level of the neck and maintain the blow until securing the tape at the base of the feathers. Stretch the neck skin with the tape and stick the remaining part on the finger. The vein is always located outwards. Take a sterile needle to break-in the vein, with a 30° angle from the skin and a 90° angle from the vein. Let the blood drop take shape then bring a capillary tube to collect the blood. Use a cotton swab to do a pressure point; the bleeding usually stop quickly by itself. Softly remove the tape. Make sure the bleeding has stopped after removing the tape.
